Bayern Munich appoint Christoph Freund as sporting director
Former Red Bull Salzburg sporting director joins the German champions
Freund will take up his new role at Bayern Munich on 1 September
Bayern Munich have appointed Christoph Freund as their new sporting director. Freund joins the German champions from Red Bull Salzburg, where he has been sporting director since 2015.
The 45-year-old Freund has a wealth of experience in football, having played for and managed a number of clubs in Austria and Germany. He has also worked as a scout and sporting director for Red Bull Salzburg, where he helped to develop some of the most exciting young players in Europe.
Freund's appointment is a major coup for Bayern Munich, who have been looking for a new sporting director since Hasan Salihamidzic left the club in May. Freund is a highly respected figure in the football world, and he is known for his ability to identify and develop talent.
