A swarm of earthquakes has been rattling the Campi Flegrei volcanic complex near Naples since October 2, 2023. While no substantial damage has been reported, the ongoing seismic activity has prompted authorities to issue a yellow alert.

On October 2, a magnitude 4 earthquake struck the area, causing noticeable tremors in Naples. This was followed by several smaller earthquakes, including a magnitude 3.2 event on October 3.

Ground Uplift and Gas Emissions Observed

In addition to the earthquakes, scientists have also observed ground uplift and increased gas emissions within the Campi Flegrei caldera. These phenomena could indicate an increase in volcanic activity.
