The uniforms of the United States Air Force have undergone various changes throughout history, reflecting the evolving needs and technological advancements of the service.
Force Uniform Board
The Force Uniform Board (FUB) is responsible for developing and updating the USAF uniform policy. The FUB considers recommendations from various stakeholders, including Airmen, commanders, and industry partners, to ensure that uniforms meet operational, safety, and professional standards.
Religious Accommodation
The USAF recognizes the religious beliefs and practices of its members. Airmen may request a religious accommodation to wear or modify their uniform in accordance with their faith. Such requests are reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.
Female Mess Dress
The USAF Female Mess Dress is an elegant and formal uniform worn for special occasions. It consists of a matching pair of trousers or a skirt, a coat, and accessories. Enlisted Airmen wear cloth rank insignia on their coats, while officers wear metal rank insignia.
